Sailing Camp

Thanks to Steve Jones and Angela Crawshaw for these photos of Sailing camp in 1973-75.

Sailing Camp at Aldwark or Linton on Ouse was part of our first year programme. I guess it was designed to introduce us to new experiences and help us “grow”. The Crown Inn at nearby Great Ouseburn helped us grow too, with it’s fine Old Peculiar ale.

I remember on my weeks stay there that the accommodation was limited. Students slept upstairs in a dormitory with some blankets to divide men from women. Needless to say our slumbers were interupted by snoring and other bodily noises mainly coming from the male side of the dorm.
